ABOUT THE FOUNDATION

Our Mission

Since 2014, Chicago Greektown Educational Foundation (CGEF), has dedicated itself to providing resources for Greek language education. CGEF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is governed by a dedicated volunteer board of directors.

This foundation intends to:

Secure funds for educational materials and tools
Develop initiatives that integrate technology into Greek language programs
Establish and grant tuition scholarships
Support for the Foundation comes entirely through community contributions, including:
Fundraising events
Individual donations
Corporate contributions
Funds are allocated to programs at individual schools as well as to pilot projects which integrate technology into Greek language classrooms.

Thanks to your support, CGEF has granted more than $100,000 to Greek schools in the Chicago area.

Our Story

The Chicago Greektown Educational Foundation was formed in 2014 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to support the efforts of those working tirelessly to preserve the Greek language and culture. In 2016, the Foundation began developing initiatives to assist Greek language educators with what we view as the essential task of integrating technology into modern Greek curricula.

Beginning in 2016, several parishes sought financial assistance for materials and supplies to enhance and maintain their Greek school programs. We have contributed over $100,000 toward classroom improvements, program grants and new education technologies to schools.

Since 2014, the Foundation partnered with Special Service Area #16 in Greektown to ensure that all Greek Americans have access to a Greek community and education.
